Vocational training

The reform of vocational training introduced by the law of September 5, 2018 requires organizations carrying out skills development actions (training organization, skills assessment center, prior learning assessment and apprenticeship training center) wishing to benefit from public funds to be certified, according to a national reference system, by an accredited certification body or one in the process of being accredited.

This sole certification replaced the certifications recognized by the CNEFOP (National Council for Employment, Training and Vocational Guidance) on January 1, 2021 for training organizations and on January 1, 2022 for apprenticeship training centers.

The use of accredited certification is intended to reinforce and enhance the quality of the training on offer, by guaranteeing a common and equitable framework.

The French government wanted to use accredited certification to build confidence in the training services delivered under cover of this certification.

Confidence in the accredited certification body results from the fact that it is assessed by Cofrac at its head office, according to the accreditation standard, but also in the field, under observation of an assessment at the premises of the service provider applying for certification or already certified.

Accreditation also guarantees that the certification body complies with the regulatory requirements of the certification process, that it is impartial in issuing certifications, and that its staff are competent. It assures training beneficiaries, funders and other stakeholders that training providers have been properly assessed to deliver quality training.
