Although it may already benefit from certification, an information management system is never set in stone. Security issues are such that the organisation in place needs to be reassessed regularly.

Auditing or upgrading an information security management system requires particular skills. 

To increase the robustness of their systems, certain companies call upon the services of individuals who can boast accredited certification: by demanding more than just formal qualifications, these companies can rest assured that the competence of these individuals is monitored and periodically reassessed by bodies whose competence and impartiality are recognised.
