Our organisation

Based in Paris, Cofrac is an organisation on a human scale comprising more than 180 in-house employees and drawing on the expertise of 1800 external assessors.

With its Chairman, Joël Karecki, and its General Director, Dominique Gombert, our association is organised around four business divisions:

  • « Certifications » : for bodies dealing with verification, certification of persons, management systems, products, services and processes, and for the qualification of companies.
  • « Laboratories » : for test, analysis and calibration laboratories, proficiency testing providers, and producers of reference material.
  • « Inspection » : for bodies that inspect and verify regulated measurement instruments (legal metrology).
  • « Healthcare » : aimed specifically at biomedical and forensic laboratories, and anatomy and cytopathology entities.

The divisions are tasked with receiving and assessing the requests from candidate bodies, developing new accreditation schemes as required, organising and monitoring assessments, and, ultimately, issuing accreditations. Each Cofrac division has its own team (accreditation managers, accreditation coordinators, accreditation assistants, division directors, etc.). See our organisation chart.

Located near the Montgallet metro station, in the 12th arrondissement of Paris, Cofrac also has several cross-functional departments: IT, general services, assessors, communication/promotion, HR and finance, along with a pool of 1800 external assessors and technical experts tasked by Cofrac with conducting assessments in conjunction with our teams.
