Cofrac policy statement by the General Director

Cofrac policy statement by the General Director

"Cofrac was created to foster the establishment of the trust that the various interested parties (organisations, consumers, Public Authorities, etc.) wish to see developed regarding the quality of service provisions offered by accredited conformity evaluation bodies. It is its duty to offer an exemplary service.

I undertake to provide and implement the means necessary in order that the French accreditation system is in conformity with the relevant international standards, i.e. the standard NF EN ISO/IEC 17011 and the documents applicable within the framework of the multilateral agreements established by EA, ILAC and IAF. This means facilitating the mutual recognition of accreditations and the broadest acceptance possible of the documents issued by accredited bodies.

I attach the greatest importance to the policies and procedures which make up the Cofrac management system being non-discriminatory, that they maintain impartiality and guarantee confidentiality at all levels.

I ensure the competence and objectivity of the persons involved in this work.

I undertake to provide the means necessary for Cofrac to ensure the pertinent supervision of all questions directly relating to accreditation.

Meeting the expectations of the interested parties is at the heart of my concerns. I therefore ensure the maintenance of sufficient communication to guarantee the correct identification of needs and I see to it that the development of new activities has access to the necessary resources.

I undertake to see to it that Cofrac is organised in such a way as to be able to provide a service provision, in which the quality meets the expectations of the interested parties, in complete transparency and with strict control over costs and deadlines. I accept full responsibility for all accreditation decisions.

The management system put in place at Cofrac takes up these values. Everyone's understanding of them within the permanent structure and everyone's commitment to a policy of improving our system are essential to Cofrac's performance. With the support of the Section and Department Managers, I ensure that Cofrac's general policy is understood, implemented and maintained at all levels of the organisation.

Each year, I define objectives which take up the issues on which I wish to see particular action with a view to improving Cofrac's performance, whether in terms of internal operations or the service rendered to interested parties. These objectives are translated into action plans and are regularly monitored. They are explained by the Section and Department Managers to each team, particularly during annual performance assessment interviews, in order to ensure that they are understood and endorsed by everyone involved, Cofrac's pledge of the success of our methodology and performance."
